About Mark
While he once considered a career in marine biology, Mark was destined to help business owners succeed with qualities that include a head for numbers, genuine empathy for the raft of challenges faced by businesses, and natural problem solving abilities.
Specialising in tax, accounting and business advice for family owned, small and medium sized businesses, Mark uses his considerable knowledge and experience as an accountant and business owner of some 20 years. He helps his clients to identify and take up opportunities that create efficiencies and grow profitable businesses.
With a genuine interest in helping business owners succeed, it’s not surprising that Mark is known for strategic tax and business advice blended with sound ethics and a positive, patient yet progressive approach to achieving outcomes. Naturally, Mark enjoys long standing and successful relationships with clients who value his business knowledge and have benefited from his mentoring and technical advice at every stage of their business life cycle.
From buying to building and selling their businesses, Mark facilitates sound business practices that support and educate business owners. He makes complex tax matters simple and this often includes recommendations for streamlining accounting and financial management systems.
Improved cashflow, increased profits and reduced expenditure (including tax liabilities and compliance costs) and protecting assets, are among the tangible outcomes Mark’s clients enjoy.
Mark believes the key to enduring client relationships is to add value, be approachable and importantly, be available so that clients can access advice when they need it most.
Mark is an integral part of VBA Chartered Accountants joining the team in 2000, and becoming a director in 2007. He enjoys the loyalty of his colleagues and working in an environment grounded in ethics, integrity and responsive service – values which align with his own.
Personally
In his professional life, Mark helps his clients achieve more for their hard work, and the same applies in his personal life. He strives to set a good example for his sons to follow, instilling the values of understanding and compassion as well as having a good work and social ethic.
Mark makes the most of his home life, spending time with his wife Denise, maintaining and improving his acreage property which is complete with cows and chickens. He loves the outdoors and the Sunshine Coast is the perfect location for him to enjoy four-wheel driving, boating, and fishing. However, he’s equally partial to spending time indoors, which is all about settling in to watch the rugby league or cricket.
